Rio Ferdinand plays in the defender position for Manchester United. He has made 183 appearences and scored 4 goals. He joined United on 22 of July 2002 for a rather big transfer fee of 30 million pounds. But it turned out to be worth it for this excellent defender. He made his first debut on the 27th of August 2003 against Zalaegerszeg. He also plays for the England national team. Rio Ferdidand has great leadership in defence and great pace. He can also read the game very well. He established himself as one of the worlds best defenders in the 2002 world cup and is still considered till this day one of the best defenders in the game.
